'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling final moments of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and his teammate promptly slammed home the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory earned a next round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right defensive wing after they changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
